Contact Improvisation workshop with Emily Bowman.
Releasing into the Fall
How do we internally release into the fall? Can we fall down, to fall up? We will explore how our body responds with the acceleration of gravity in contact. Working with contemporary dance techniques inspired by release work, we learn safe ways of guiding our descent into the floor, moving towards effortless and organically. As we progress into the unknown of falling, we aim to integrate falling as a natural pathway that can invite a dance that is continuously releasing and ready, with a sense of fearlessness. It will lead you to experience gravity as an energy supply rather than something to fear or overcome.
Open to participants both experienced in CI and new to the form, with the desire to let go and release. Recommended to wear loose comfortable clothing, and kneepads (if you have them).
